Tameka’s first big break was as the morning news and traffic reporter for one of San Francisco’s highest rated radio stations KYLD 94.9. After working at the station, Jacobs would run to her modeling and dancing gigs. This dynamo wanted to do it all, so she did! After just a few weeks of moving to Los Angeles, Jacobs began booking high fashion editorials, campaigns, and music videos for fashion favorites Joy Han & British Vogue’s Deborah Lindquist and the launch campaign for iPod. She has since graced the pages of Westlake Magazine and Best Body. Most recently, Jacobs was featured in People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Issue for 2006 and featured as YRB’s US pick for “The Colors of Beauty” feature. At age 3, Tameka made national headlines by being the center of a racially charged custody battle. After being born to a drug addicted mother, Tameka spent 3 years with her white foster mother. When her foster mom tried to adopt Jacobs, who is multi ethnic, but she was taken by county officials and was eventually placed with a black family. Tameka’s groundbreaking story has been featured in People, Inside Edition, Extra & Star Magazine. Jacobs was born in the small California town of French Camp, but when she was adopted, she moved to Santa Clara Valley. Immediately, this natural star enrolled in jazz, tap, and ballet classes. As a teenager, she began taking classes in acting, modeling and public speaking. This beauty uses her own successful life as an inspiration, and continues her work with girls and young women in foster homes and adoption agencies. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, playing the violin and any outdoor activity. Tameka resides in Los Angeles with her Chihuahua Jack Russell mix, Sunny Dae. |
