A 2003 graduate of Bolsa Grande High School, Nicole is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society as well as a member of the California Scholastic Federation. She was also active in theater, where she was the lead for four major productions, including The Outsiders. Nicole was also the director for two theatrical productions and the Director of Advertising for a third production. A spirited Bolsa Grande Matador, Nicole was a cheerleader for one year, a princess on the Basketball Homecoming Court and participated in dance performances for International Week. Nicole's high scholastic achievement also earned her the following awards: two SAT-9 Scholarship Awards for scoring within the top 10% of her class, Bank of America Award in Fine Arts, Golden State Exam High Honors Awards, and the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Association Scholarship Award. During her year of service as Miss Garden Grove, Nicole plans to promote her platform "HIV and AIDS Awareness." It is a three-point platform that teaches awareness, education and compassion. Nicole was a facilitator for the AIDS Fundamentals Program at UC Irvine. She also volunteers at the AIDS Services Foundation of Orange County. Nicole intends to participate in the AIDS Walk of Orange County. With 7000 people infected with HIV/AIDS in Orange County, Nicole plans to educate the Garden Grove community about the multiple biological and sociological aspects of HIV/AIDS and lend a compassionate hand for people who are affected by HIV/AIDS. Nicole is also a loving big sister to her siblings, Emily, age eight and Ricky, age 4. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys playing the piano, crocheting and swimming. |
